Spoken Word and Wayward Walks

Surrey Docks Farm

Germander has been Writer-in-Residence at this city farm in Rotherhithe, south-east London, from summer 2010 to summer 2011.

Over the year Germander has been collecting fascinating facts and odd observations by peering in polytunnels, peeking in beehives, digging in gardens, listening to pigs, watching passing boats and the antics of goats, factfinding in the forge and foraging on the foreshore.

The final results have been printed into a booklet, 'Foghorns and Subsongs', which features illustrations by Sine Skovsen. It is now on sale for £6.00 - directly from Germander or from the farm office.

NEWS: Germander has won a place on the Vodafone World of Difference scheme to continue her work at Surrey Docks Farm. She will be organising events to get people involved in exploring all aspects of the farm and its site, and describing their findings and observations creatively and playfully to collaboraratively create new written work about Surrey Docks Farm. Full details coming soon.

Location: Surrey Docks Farm is at the southern end of Rotherhithe Street, adjacent to the Thames, Rotherhithe, London SE16 5ET. It's on the 381 and C10 bus routes, and closest to Surrey Quays station and easy to cycle to along the riverside. See info at www.surreydocksfarm.org.uk
